Frost-hardy Aechmea with blue-tipped green leaves, from the outskirts of a city named Blumenau, in the cool, wet South of Brazil. This is a Canarian variety of the famous prickly pear or tuna fruit, with yellow-green fruits. It is a shrub-cactus from Mexico that produces delicious fruits and it is hardy to about -6 C (21 F). Hardiness is substantially increased as long as full sun and drainage are provided.
