Exceedingly beautiful tropical small Alocasia , with glossy deep green leaves, with prominent silvery veins and pink petioles. Its growth habit is similar to the more widely grown Alocasia x 'Polly'. It is evergreen but it will surely loose many leaves in winter, when irrigation can be reduced. Alocasia longiloba is found wild in China (S. Yunnan, Guangdong) to W. & Central Malesia. It has been recently distributed in the trade as 'Pink Dragon" and "Morocco", but despite the fantasy of commercial names, this is probably a wild form of this fabulous species, and not a man-made selection.

Be careful in winter! ... this cold-sensitive plant is mostly evergreen but it can shed leaves (and roots) when stressed. In this case, the remaining corm will rest for some weeks and will sprout again later, if temperatures are hot enough. So if it defoliates, don't throw it away and keep it slightly moist , in the soil and do not overwater the resting corm.
