Flowering shrub endemic to the Atlantic rainforest in south-eastern Brazil, where it is found on rocks or as an epiphyte. It is a relative of the popular Solandra maxima, and it was formerly named Solandra viridiflora. In this case, its exotic flowers are green and they produced throughout the year, in optimal conditions. These green bells point downwards and in nature they are pollinated by bats. In cultivation it can be grown in any draining soil or also in the ground. It tolerates cool conditions and short, light frosts.
