Graceful succulent with rosettes of grey leaves coated in a white felt, which typically cracks after a sudden rain. It was formerly placed in the genus Senecio, under the name Senecio scaposus ssp. addoensis. It is fairly easy in cultivation but it is slow. It can be watered throughout the year as long as temperatures are above about 12 C. It should be kept drier as it gets colder. The type species, Caputia scaposa, is fairly common in the in the Eastern Cape , while this subspecies addoensis is considered endangered because it only grows by Addo and Enon. Our nursery-grown plants descend from material originally collected in the Addo area.
