Heliconia è un genere di 200 specie, conosciute per le infiorescenze che sono la quintessenza dei fiori tropicali, e per le grandi foglie verdi esotiche. Le fioriture sono incredibilmente colorate e sono spesso impollinate da colibrì.
Gli zenzeri sono una famiglia, Zingiberaceae, con circa 1.300 specie e alcuni sono ben note ornamentali, spezie e medicinali.
Le heliconie e gli zenzeri sono piante erbacee tropicali con fusti sotterranei. Molte specie sono sensibili al gelo, ma alcune provengono da habitat più freddi e resisteranno bene in un clima mediterraneo. Alcuni tollerano anche neve e gelo. Spediamo rizomi sani, coltivati in pieno campo, con almeno due punti di crescita attivi.
One of the showiest variegated plants in the world ! This Asian plant from the ginger family has large dark-green leaves striped in a rich yellow. Large plants will eventually bloom with a spectacular inflorescence of white and yellow flowers, reminiscent of orchids. This plant is used medicinally in a lot of surprising ways.
