Copernicia hospita is mid-sized palm endemic to Cuba. The fan-shaped leaves are stiff, wedge-to-circular shaped, 1.5 to 2 m wide. They are divided into many rigid segments and their colour can unpredictably vary from grey-green to bluish-green and almost pure white or silver. Both surfaces are covered with a layer of wax. The petiole is short and extends slightly in the leaf blade. The inflorescence is 2 m long and extends beyond the leaves, eventually bearing rounded black fruits.

Hospita is one of the easiest to grow of all Cuban copernicias. It is faster that the more massive species and it takes some cold. It quickly recovers from short frosts if grown in a hot location.

The size of this plant is: 5 years old in 14-16 cm pot.
