Heliconia aurantiaca

This species is a cool-tolerant subtropical Heliconia, mainly found in shady places but also at the border of the forest. Very beautiful red bracts and white flowers are a show in Spring. This species is very ornamental because flowers grow above the foliage and are seen from above, because overall height is 0,80-1,60 m. It is originally from the Mata Atlantica of South East Brazil, especially around Florianopolis in Santa Catarina. Endangered in habitat.
