Ursulaea is a new genus described in 1994, still uncommon in cultivation. It grows as an Aechmea with a beautiful pink-white inflorescence and blue flowers.

Ursulaea macvaughii is native to SW Mexico. Leaves have regular teeth. They are silvery underneath and they are green if hot and shady and golden-copper in cool sunny weather. Night temperatures of 8-18 C will stimulate the best leaf colours.

There are some doubts regarding its correct name. According to Kew Gardens Checklist, the correct name for this species is Aechmea mcvaughii L.B.Sm.

We currently (Jan 2022) offer a gigantic-sized plant grown outdoors with very thick leaves.
