Santa Rosa became popular after being introduced to the U.S.A. by Luther Burbank, in 1907. Nowadays it is a very important commercial cultivar and readily available in the supermarket. Nevertheless, it's very good flavor, self fertility, and importance as a pollenizer makes it a very good choice for the home garden. It is widely planted in the USA, New Zealand and Australia.
