Ornamental shrub to small tree, 2-8 m tall, grown and admired for its symmetrical foliage. It is a relative of the edible Cassava (Manihot esculenta) found in tropical America, but this species is by far hardier to cold and it grows taller and stouter. It is native to subtropical Argentina and surroundings where it is commonly seen in gardens or planted as a street tree. It is widespread in the city of Buenos Aires and South to Mar del Plata, where frost is common in winter. Manihot grahamii is deciduous and it is somehow self-pruning, because it does not only shed leaves but also al the thinnest upper branches that dry out and fall. It is very easy to grow and versatile as it can be pruned and shaped to any desired size .
