Arrowroot is a root crop with edible starchy rhizomes, and also a beautiful plant.  It grows in full sun with ornamental wide green leaves, which are reminiscent of the more colourful Calathea species produced for the house plant market. In this species the rhizomes are edible and they grow abundantly during the warmer months. It is perennial but as a crop, it should be replanted every year, in order to rejuvenate the production. For this reason, this plant can be grown away from the tropics, because it can be planted out every spring and will give a profitable crop wherever the warm season is long. Many people got nice crops in the coastal Mediterranean. We will ship a thick rhizome with many growing points and, depending on the season, it will have leaves or not.
