This is one of those American Amaryllids that drive collectors crazy. Each bulb produces one very large flower similar to Hymenocallis or Pancratium, but up to 18 cm in diameter! It is glossy, white with a hint yellow inside. Leptochiton quitoense opens at dusk and it lasts for almost 2 days: 2 nights and 1 day, to be precise. A marvelous spicy scent is especially evident at night.

This species of Leptochiton is found in Ecuador and Peru, in seasonal habitats and can stay up to 6 months in full rest. We offer a bulb much like the one shown in the picture.
