Beautiful Hibiscus, endemic to the islands of Mauritius and Reunión. We offer the form with orange-red shiny flowers, which is native to Reunion Island.  It is an easy to grow tall shrub with ascending branches. It flowers occur throughout the year except in full summer if the weather gets too hot. Hibiscus boryanus is very hard to find in cultivation but it is a very ornamental species, its dark green leaves are different between the juvenile and adult form. Juvenile plants have palmate leaves, while adults produce simple leaves.

It is a tropical plant but it takes wind and drought and some cold too, so it can be grown  outdoors in the warmer coastal Mediterranean. Full sun is important to keep the plant tidy and to make them flower abundantly.

We offer a 1-2 years old seed-sown plant that can flower in less than one year if kept in the right conditions.
