Pick coconut-tasting chestnuts underwater and eat them raw! This is versatile aquatic plant domesticated in SE Asia. It starts growing when temperatures go up (in April?) and bears tufts of glossy thick leaves. You can plant three or four corms per square meter or just enjoy them in a bucket. They like to stay in water logged soil or in shallow water, just a few centimeters below water. Asian Water Chestnut does equally well in temperate and tropical climates, as long as there are a few months of sun and heat.
