Chuniophoenix has a different look among palms, almost between a Rhapis and a Mauritiella. But this genus is genetically isolated and it is related to Kerriodoxa of Thailand and Tahina of Madagascar. It is able to take cool weather and short light frost, so it grows in coastal Mediterranean climates. It is slowish at first and it takes us a few years to make a palm of this size! Our plants were sown in 2014 and they are now in 16 cm pots.
