Impressive flowering "bottle tree" from South America. It is called "Silk Floss Tree" and its former name was Chorisia speciosa. It is a relative of the baobabs (genus Adansonia), which grow in Africa and Australia, but this tree is hardy to light frosts and has a very abundant flowering that no baobas will ever have. Each flower reminds a Hibiscus, with an array of pinks and yellows and dots and streaks., The trunk is also attractive, green and swollen with huge thick prickles. It is suitable to pot colture or bonsai, but it will be tricky to make it flower in a small space.
