This ornamental hybrid is a showy bulbous perennial and flowers repeatedly from July to October with gorgeous pink flowers. It is evergreen and the whole plant looks a bit like some tropical Crinum species but it is a frost-hardy plant, good to create a tropical look in a non tropical garden. Its full name should be spelled x Amarcrinum memoria-corsii ‘Howardii’, because it is an intergeneric hybrid between the South African Amaryllis belladonna and Crinum moorei, is a crinum-like "bulb", resulted from crossing Crinum moorei and Amaryllis belladonna. These two South African species have a completely different growth habit, as Amaryllis belladonna is a smaller, winter-grower, summer-deciduous bulb from much drier areas.
