Compact vriesea with extraordinary glossy dark inflorescences, purple to black. Its fascinating blooms have the dark colour that no other house plant has and they lasts for months! This plant was developed in Belgium by nurserymen Pieters-Demeyer-Stofbergen and originated as a sport of Christiane around 1997, Christiane in turn was a seedling of vrieseas Viminalis-Rex (mother) and carinata (father).
