These variegates are just a bit slower than their green counterparts. In our conditions they took 14-15 months from plantation to bloom. Then 3-5 more months for filling up. A green one would have made it just one month earlier or so.

Each season we can only get a few good variegates like these. we select the Variegated Standard and the Variegated Supreme. The Standard will have only a few or a dozen stripes stripes per leaf and some occasional bands but, yes it IS variegated. The Supreme will give a shocking plant full of stripes and bands on the very first cycle. Sometimes juveniles can give a green leaf, and this is often seen after repotting or planting in the ground.

You are buying a variegate but ony a few of its pups will be variegate and most will be green because they are "unstable". We believe it is worth to play this game of the continuous selection, because the sight of those wide striped Cavendish leaves is unique.

This banana is a "Cavendish" type, a Triploid AAA. Plants bear huge bunches but must be kept above at least +5 C because it is cold sensitive. And much better if kept above +10 C !

Cavendish Gruesa Palmera is a robust dwarf clone of banana that has appeared in Cavendish plantations in La Palma, Canary Islands, and it has now been reproduced in-vitro.

What do we ship

We ship a potted juvenile plant with the leaves cut to 1/3 to reduce transpiration. Repot to a larger size as soon as you can. It needs room for the roots. Keep warm in bright light to full sun.
