Boswellia dioscoridis is one of the frankincenses endemic to Socotra. There, it is widely distributed in dry forests, semi-deciduous forests, and less frequently in scrub with Croton socotranus, at an altitude of 50 to 600 metres. A tree easily distinguishable from other boswellias on the island by the leaves which have numerous winged stems, small leaflets and the inconspicuous pale yellow flowers which are produced in scattered panicles.
