Exotic tube-like billbergia, with silver banded stiff leaves. Even when not in flower, this plant is very striking. Showy pink-blue inflorescences in late spring. Its long tubes are ideal hosts for frogs. Billbergia brasiliensis takes hot, dry conditions and cool winters but it is sensitive to frost. Semi-shade. Best as an epiphyte.
