Beautiful palm from colder Brazil, with flat fan leaves and long spiny leaf sheaths, Trithrinax brasiliensis is a solitary palm native to Brazil with stiff, green fan leaves. Leaf sheaths bear 15-25 cm (6-10") long spines forming an attractive intricate pattern of old leaf bases. Attractive, creamy yellow inflorescences appear in late spring, and also the pale yellow fruits, held in abundant bunches are ornamental. It prefers full sun, and grows in a wide range of conditions. It is tolerant to moderate frosts, -4 to -7 |
