Majestic fan palm with elegant stiff leaves held on very large trunks. Copernicia baileyana is native to low elevation savannas of central and eastern Cuba. The white-gray trunk is one of the largest of all palms, reaching about 20 m (66 ft). The crown is dens with rigid, ascending leaves with a perfectly circular outline. It is best suited for the tropics or warm subtropics, but some specimens are grown by collectors outdoors on the warmer coasts of the Mediterranean. Young plants are very slow growing and take many years form a trunks. The little plants sold by Canarius are older than one may think. The size of this plant is: 10-15 cm - Cont. 12 cm - 2 years. |
