Hardier, southerly occuring form of the popular blue leaved palm. It is native to coastal southern Brazil (Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul) and Uruguay. Similar to the typical Butia capitata, but with a compact, wind resistant habit and small fruits and seeds. Leaves of mature specimens in the wild can be as short as 1 m and seldom exceeds 3 or 4 m in total height. The size of this plant is: h= 20-40 cm - Cont. 12 cm. |
