Edward has yellow fruits of medium size, with low fibres presence. Mango is a tropical tree native to India and Southeast Asia, where it has been cultivated for thousands of years. It is grown widely in the tropics and subtropics. There are hundreds or thousands of varieties with different shapes, sizes, colours and flavours. Mango trees reach 5-25 m (15-80 ft). The leaves are evergreen, leathery, simple and alternate; when the leaves are young they are orange-pink, rapidly changing to a dark glossy red, then dark green as they mature. Flowers are produced in terminal panicles 10-40 cm (4-16 ") long; each flower is small and white with a mild sweet odour. The fruit takes from three to six months to ripen. Mangifera mango produces one of the most popular fruits of the world. The ripe fruit is variable in size and colour, and may be yellow, orange, red or green, depending on the cultivar. When ripe, the unpeeled fruit gives off a distinctive resinous sweet smell. In its centre is a single flat oblong seed that can be fibrous or hairy on the surface, depending on the cultivar. The fruit has a thin skin and the flesh is firm, sweet and exotically perfumed. Available all year-round in tropical countries, the peak season is summer and autumn. Eaten fresh or used in drinks, desserts, fruit salads and salsas. The green mangoes are eaten raw as fresh appetizers with salt and lemon juice or used in Asian chutneys and slaws. The variety "Edward" is chiefly grown in Peru, Brazil and Ecuador. It has green/yellow fruits, sometimes with red blush, of medium size, with low fibres presence. It has a juicy and melting texture. Early season.

We offer a plant about 50-60 cm tall, rooted in a deep pot. Each cultivar is grafted over a hardy rootstock, the traditional canarian mango Gomera-1, which is more resistant to cold and wet soil.
