Large spineless Australian cycad, easy and tolerant of a wide range of conditions including frost, drought, full sun or shade. Macrozamia communis is endemic to New South Wales, it was described as a new species in 1959. It is endemic to coastal areas of New South Wales in Australia, where it is locally abundant in wet to dry sclerophyll forests, mostly on old beach sands but also on shallow sandy or stony soils on ridges. It can have either a subterranean caudex or a short columnar trunk up to 2 m tall. It can be adapted to live in Northern climates, but it needs hot conditions to grow fast.
