Elegant cycad with subterranean stem, and a sparse crown of large, erect leaves, 1-2,5 m (15 ft) tall, with glossy, broad and well-spaced leaflets. Cycas simplicipinna is often found in wet and sheltered understorey of tall evergreen forests, in cooler mountains of Northern Thailand, Burma, Laos and Vietnam, above 600 metres elevation. It is possibly sensitive to frost but tolerant of cool and wet conditions. The size of this plant is: h= 20-30 cm, 3 years old. |
