New Chinese species described in 2006 from cool mountain forests between 700 and 800 m (2300 and 2600 ft) near the city of Shanya, on the island of Hainan. Cycas shanyaensis grows a slender trunk to about 3 m (10 ft) tall, topped by a crown of long, pinnate leaves. It has been uncorrectly spelled Cycas shanyagensis in some literature. |
