Clivicola means cliff-dweller, lutea means yelllow and refers to the golden bark. This cycad is native to steep limestone cliffs in Thailand. Cycas clivicola var. lutea is a medium to large handsome cycad with an erect to leaning trunk, up to 8 m long and 16 cm diameter, covered with smooth, yellow bark on the trunk. Bright green to dark green leaves. A drought tolerant species which requires an open sunny position and excellent drainage, useful for coastal localities. The size of this plant is: 50 cm tall, 4 cm base. |
