The blue Cycas from Queensland. C. cairnsiana has smooth, waxy and very glaucous mature leaves. New growth has loose orange tomentum. It is native to the drier country of north-eastern Queensland. Requires a hot, dry, very well drained position. It is frost tolerant, but dislikes high humidity during the cooler months and can rot easily if kept wet. Very slow.
