Frost hardy bromeliad, from SE Brazil, with orange spikes and glossy green leaves. Aechmea kertesziae is very uncommon in cultivation and it is said to survive to about - 6 C. It forms clumps and strong display specimens in bloom are impressive. It is native to Santa Catarina, near the beach. It grows well outdoors in coastal Mediterranean climates. |
