A close relative of papaya, this exciting plant was domesticated in the Andes at high elevation, where frost is common. Good tasting fruits! A must for tropical fruit lovers living in colder climates. It also makes a spectacular ornamental plant because of the huge, tropical-looking leaves. This mountain papaya was formerly placed in the genus Carica, and called both Carica cundinamarcensis or Carica pubescens. Now it is in the genus Vasconcella. We offer plants about 50 cm tall |
