A medium/small species from Brazil with nice dark speckling on the top side and light banding on the undersides, and dark bases. Growth is upright tubular, with stiff, 20 cm (8") tall tube-like rosettes. "Maculata" means "spotted" in Latin and the best red spots are produced in full sun. Direct sunlight also induces a more compact and beautiful growth. Neoregelia maculata is uncommon in cultivation, but it is very easy and fast. It is hardy in cool-cold conditions and thrives in Mediterranean climates. It is suited to epiphytic life or pot colture. We offer 18-22 cm (7-9") mature pups, with at least one mature head and two growing points.
