Jacquinia berteroi grows well in pots and makes a nice unusual ornamental shrub from 0,5 m to 2 or more meters tall. It grows also outdoors in coastal Mediterranean climates.

The genus Jacquinia was formerly placed in the small family Teophrastaceae but now the whole family has become part of Primulaceae.
