Ornamental and useful tree from Australia, New Caledonia and Vanuatu. It typically bears yellow and red flowers at the same time. Chestnuts are edible and good too, but they have to be leached and cooked before eating. It is a very adaptable tree, and it can attain anything between 3 and 20 m tall, depending on conditions. It is easy to grow and it even keeps well in shade, so it has been successfully used as a house plant.
