New Chinese species described in 2006 from cool mountain forests between 700 and 800 m (2300 and 2600 ft) near the city of Shanya, on the island of Hainan. Cycas shanyaensis grows a slender trunk to about 3 m (10 ft) tall, topped by a crown of long, pinnate leaves. It has been uncorrectly spelled Cycas shanyagensis in some literature.

The size of this plant is: H = 80-120 cm. Base = 8-10 cm

We currently offer anadult plant grown in  14 x 20 cm pots, locally grown from seed. Leaves longer than 90 cm do not fit in the box. If you agree, we will cut of all parts above 90 cm in height. The plant may look ugly at first but it will produce new leaves after some time. These cycads are very tolerant of leaf cut because they have very thick robust bases and can sprout back quickly.
